Proud to be a UKA Sensei
Shauna Carroll, UKA Instructor
My journey as a Sensei has been deeply shaped by the United Karate Association (UKA), and I couldn't be prouder to wear the badge of this incredible organisation. Since its founding by Sensei Ian Cuthbert in 1981, UKA has built a legacy not just of competitive success, but of genuine student development.
I am personally committed to the high standards UKA sets: every instructor is fully insured, DBS checked, and First Aid Trained, ensuring a professional and secure environment for everyone, from the youngest beginner to the most experienced Black Belt. We teach a challenging mix of traditional and sport Karate, but our focus extends far beyond the dojo floor.
"What truly sets UKA apart is our dedication to the whole student—helping them grow athletically, boost their confidence and self-esteem, and even support them academically."
The unity within our network is palpable; it's a family where parents often train alongside their children, embracing the progressive core belief that "you never stop learning" and that gaining a Black Belt is truly "only the beginning."
I am excited every day to contribute my unique teaching style to this progressive, united club, and to help our students become champions—both on the mat and in life. If you're looking for a club that values community, excellence, and constant improvement, I invite you to join our supportive home.
